A healthy puppy is lively and energetic, with normal appetite and excretion. A closer inspection also features the following:
1. The eyes are bright and flexible. Use the sound to the left and right of the head to determine whether the puppy’s hearing is normal.
2. The nose mirror is moist, the eyes, ears and nose are clean without secretions, and there is no odor in the ears.
3. The color of eye mucosa, oral mucosa and tongue is ruddy but without bloodshot.
4. The whole body of the puppy, including the fur of the limbs and tail, should not have baldness, dander, ectoparasites (worms) or itching.
5. Let the puppy stand and feel its whole body, the ribs should be palpable but not obvious; the abdomen should not be excessively enlarged or bloated; there is no mass in the lower abdomen and groin (to avoid “hernia”).
6. Gently lift the puppy’s tail, the anus and tail are clean.
7. By playing with the dog, running and jumping, the puppy’s movements are normal, flexible, and have no lameness.
8. Observe if they are active and happy.
9. Will you not eat?
10. Whether there is nasal water in the nose.
11 Whether the skin has red spots.
12. Is there any discharge from the eyes?
